Will our school make any money?
Wraparound clubs can also be extremely lucrative for schools looking to augment their income. Surveys conducted in 2024 advise that the average after-school club generates around £2,700 per attending pupil per year, based on term-time bookings alone.
In our own experience, schools usually earn between £30k-£150k, and up to £250k in annual income by providing breakfast and after-school clubs, depending on their uptake.
The free solution to government funded breakfast clubs
Since April 2025, the UK Government has been piloting free breakfast club sessions, for 30 minute every day, for students at 1250 English primary schools. The initial pilot of 750 schools from April 2025 has being extended by 500 more schools from April 2026, and the government has committed to a national roll-out thereafter.
Separately, in January 2026 the Scottish Government pledged that by August 2027 there will be a free breakfast club for every single primary and special school, as well as further wraparound club funding and pilots of after-school clubs.

Make wraparound club booking simple
Whether your school presently uses Parents Booking or not (if not, you can create an account for free in seconds here), schools can create a wraparound childcare club very quickly firstly by selecting the days it runs, and then creating the sessions that parents can book (for example every Monday-Friday from September to December, with a 7-9am and 8-9am session priced at different amounts). Next, block out dates which are unavailable within that range, choose a maximum capacity for each day and finally set up any advanced pricing or discounts you want to provide. In just a few clicks, parents will have been sent invites to login (using a magic login link, meaning no username/password, for as frictionless and secure a login as possible) and make their bookings.
Clubs which require payment can be paid for instantly, or, where allowed by the school, by using childcare or similar vouchers which are authorised by the school, or with HMRC's Tax-Free Childcare. Where allowed by the school, selected parents can even choose to book now and pay later.
For schools and local authorities that already use Parents Booking, the wraparound childcare booking features are shown in the same web pages as the parents' evenings, events and clubs that parents already book, meaning parents will be familiar with how to login to and book. That familiarity and trust make Parents Booking a no-brainer to implement for additional bookings.

- Two-Phase Rules (to help schools understand the minimum staffing requirement, by asking parents to choose a pattern before they can later book ad-hoc dates in a later 'phase' of bookings)
